Our Teachers

Helen Aldous

Helen graduated from Exeter University in 1984 with a B.Ed(Hons) in Education and Maths. She spent the next 20 years teaching in Bucks primary schools, across Key Stage 1 and 2, with her final full time post as Deputy Head.

After leaving her last school, Helen began tutoring children as well as opening a children’s bookshop in Amersham with Sue Templeton. Demand for tuition quickly grew and Twist Tuition was created.

Helen particularly enjoys teaching maths and loves to enthuse and interest her students in learning new vocabulary.

Jo Bray

Jo completed a BA(Hons) in Sociology and Education Studies at the University of Worcester before going on to do a PGCE at Oxford Brookes, graduating in 2005.

She has been involved in teaching in primary education for 18 years across a variety of schools and year groups, loves to be creative and fun in her teaching style and has a passion for enabling children to reach their full potential.

Jo is also a local primary school governor focusing on curriculum and the older year groups. Alongside this she is a mother to Emily and Joshua.

Amanda Shuter

Having studied at the University of Brighton, Amanda qualified as a primary school teacher in 1999 before returning home to Beaconsfield and starting in her first teaching position.

She has now accrued over 23 years of teaching experience in various schools across Bucks County Council in all Year Groups.

Amanda is passionate about providing children with a strong foundation for early learning and believes that all children have the potential to do well, if they are motivated and given the right set of tools and encouragement.
